Setting par levels and reorder points

What these two numbers mean and how to set them sensibly.

Two numbers per beverage define how the engine behaves:

  • Par bottles — the stock level you want to keep on the shelf. When the engine builds a proposal it tops a beverage up to par.
  • Reorder at — the level that triggers a critical alert. When stock drops to or below reorder, Alba builds a proposal.

To set them:

1. Tap Beverages in the menu. 2. Find the wine in the list (use the search box at the top, or the Critical / Low / OK chips to narrow it down). 3. Tap the wine to open its detail page. 4. Scroll to the Stock thresholds card. 5. Type the new Par bottles and Reorder at values, then tap Save thresholds.

A simple rule of thumb for the values:

  • Par = 1.5 × your typical weekly sales for that wine.
  • Reorder = enough stock to cover the lead time × daily velocity, plus a safety buffer.

Example: a Sangiovese that sells ~8 bottles a week, distributor lead time 1 day. Set par = 12, reorder = 4. That gives you a few days of cushion before reorder fires, and a target that covers a busy weekend.

If a beverage has par = 0 it's excluded from the engine entirely — useful for one-off wines you don't intend to keep stocked.
